2026 STFX Varsity Athletics Training Camps
Dates, open try-out times and all relevant information on all of the training camps for the upcoming 2026-27 STFX varsity season for all StFX sports will be posted on this page as the information becomes available. For specific questions on a particular team, head coaches contact information may be accessed by clicking here.
Information on try-outs for STFX club sports (field hockey, lacrosse, men's rugby, cheerleading, baseball, dance, swimming, badminton, ultimate, curling and rowing) is available by contacting the head coach of each club team. Contact information is available by clicking here.
X-Men Football
The X-Men football team runs an extensive pre-season training camp, beginning on August 20th. Tryouts for anyone interested in the X-Men football team begin during their January training camp. Anyone interested should contact X-Men football assistant coach Jon Svec.
X-Women Rugby
There will be an open try-out for anyone interested in trying out for the X-Women varsity rugby team on Date/Time TBD on the turf field at STFX Stadium. Please meet on the track 15 minutes before practice.
X-Women & X-Men Soccer
The X-Men and X-Women soccer teams host an extensive pre-season training camp that begins in mid-August. Registered StFX students may try out for the varsity soccer teams during the winter training program that begins in January. Anyone interested should contact X-Women head coach Amanda Smith or X-Men head coach Graham Kennedy.
StFX Cross Country/Track
Anyone interested in trying out for the team must meet a time standard. Please email head coach Eric Gillis to receive the time standards, and he will indicate the date and time of a tryout session during the first week of classes for all those interested.
X-Men Basketball
There will be an open try-out for anyone interested in trying out for the X-Men varsity basketball team Date/Time TBD in the Saputo Centre main gymnasium. Anyone interested in trying out must contact head coach Tyrell Vernon in advance of the try-out.
X-Women Basketball
There will be an open try-out for anyone interested in trying out for the X-Women varsity basketball team on Date/Time TBD in the Saputo Centre main gymnasium. Anyone interested in trying out must contact head coach Katie Upham in advance of the try-out.
X-Men Hockey
The X-Men hockey team will begin training camp the first week of September. Anyone interested in trying out must contact head coach Brad Peddle in advance of training camp.
X-Women Hockey
The X-Women hockey team will begin training camp on August 31st. Anyone interested in trying out must contact head coach Ben Berthiaume in advance of training camp. The training camp schedule will follow at a later date.
